HID Global

Millions of people and billions of devices trust HID Global's identity solutions to provide secure and convenient access to physical and digital places and connect things that can be identified, verified and tracked digitally.

Ory + HID Global: Identity for the converged physical and digital era

  • Phishing Resistance

Phishing remains the primary entry point for account takeover attacks. The combined platform, with FIDO2 underpinnings, eliminates shared secrets blocking attackers at the source.

  • Operational Efficiency

Managing physical badges and digital passwords separately is costly. This joint solution reduces "logistical chaos" and support overhead (like password resets).

  • Zero Trust Foundation

The modular architecture allows companies to transition to a Zero Trust model incrementally without needing to rip and replace existing infrastructure.

  • Compliance

Helps regulated industries meet intensifying global requirements for stronger authentication and identity proofing.

  • Enhanced user experience

A single badge with access to digital and physical locations make life simpler. Less badges + less credentials = happy users.

  • Unified framework

Modern means physical and digital access under a single, modern credential strategy.

How the integration works

The integration bridges security silos by using Ory’s API-first identity infrastructure as the digital backend and HID’s credentialing technology as the physical edge. Using the FIDO2 standard as a common language, Ory manages the backend identity lifecycle while HID provides the hardware, such as security keys and mobile IDs. This allows a single cryptographic credential to securely unlock both digital cloud applications and physical office doors through one unified, phishing-resistant framework.
